Whisky Woes

Our Burns Night selection is now available online on the Seasonal Specials page. This has been a very trying experience as I have spent the week surrounded by the aromas of several malt whiskys and have been unable to taste any one of them ….. Dry January is going well, on the whole, but it’s making the R&D a little difficult! The Drinkaware app has helped put things into perspective though, so it’s keeping me motivated at the moment – that and the improved sleep cycles, although getting up at 6am for bootcamp has been a little bit of a struggle over the last week. Here’s hoping it’s a little easier next week.

This week we’ve been working on Wedding favours for a February wedding. We love wedding favours as every one we do is different and it’s great to have a bit of variety. We’ve also been making Gin Bars for the Ely Gin Company ready for when they reopen the shop on the 12th. It’s great to have plenty of work coming in during January, as it’s often a very quiet month. One of our annual projects at the beginning of January is also to restock all our Choctails with fresh stock. The existing lines are used for samples and bags of misfits to sell at local events so that we can guarantee our stock stays at its freshest.

Choctails® was founded by husband and wife team Simon and Hilary Delamare. Simon's suggestion of putting cocktail flavours into chocolate took Hilary's chocolate-making hobby to new heights, until in May 2012, the decision was made to turn the hobby into a full time business. The domestic kitchen became a production factory by day, and the dining room was given up to become a place where hand-made chocolate is crafted
