Ever since I attended my chocolate workshops at the Callebaut Academy in Banbury, I’ve been mulling over the idea of getting a Thermomix. It’s only been the expense that’s stopped me, as it’s a serious piece of kit. The more I’ve seen of them, the more I’ve wanted one, and I’ve noticed they are now widely used in BBC’s Masterchef.
Whilst at the Essex Food Festival a couple of weeks ago, I finally gave in and purchased one. Much as it’s a tool that can be used for chocolate making, it’s primarily a purchase for the home kitchen. Included in the cost is a half day demo of how to get the best out of your Thermomix, and several cookery books to help us get to grips with it.
It’s an extremely versatile piece of kit and we’re amazed at just how much it can do. It makes the most fabulously silky soups, and the quick sorbet recipe using just frozen fruit and egg whites is an absolute winner.
In other exciting news this week, we are now stocked in our local Fenwicks in Colchester. We were absolutely thrilled to receive our first order from them, as it’s a retailer we’ve been trying to get into almost since we launched the business. It gives us a good local presence and we look forward to supporting them with in-store tastings and events.
Our other big purchase this week, was our Motor Home. We collected it on Friday and took it out for a first spin to Orford Ness on Sunday. We camped out in it on the driveway on Friday night to ensure we were equipped with everything we needed for a trip away first. We even cooked a Thermomix Bolognese for dinner.
