The simple answer is … you can’t at this time of year ….
My regular running schedule is having to be cut short or abandoned due to there not being enough hours in the day. Food is generally an afterthought – usually a packet of crisps at 4:45 in the afternoon when you realise you said ‘I’ll have some lunch as soon as I’ve finished this bit’ four hours ago, and that healthy salad you were planning is going to take too long to prepare …. There have been occasional days when I’ve got to that point and realised I also said the same about breakfast but didn’t get around to that either …. Evenings are usually spent packing and wrapping boxes whilst desperately trying to catch up with episodes of Masterchef.
I regularly find myself dreaming about making chocolate at this time of year. The first time it happened I was disappointed to get down to the kitchen the following morning and had nothing to show for it. I spent all day thinking I’d done it all before ….
But would any of us have it any other way? Absolutely not! The simple truth is that we all thrive on the martyrdom of our punishing schedules at this time of year. You’ll see it in all of us at next weekend’s Chocolate Show.
All too soon it will be January and we’ll have a chance to catch up with everything. And boy will we all miss it 🙂
