I ran the Colchester Half Marathon today. Well, when I say ran . . . Unfortunately I injured my hip just over three weeks ago, and whilst recovery was going well, it wasn't completely better by the time race day came around. I knew that I really shouldn't be taking part
and that I was only going to aggravate the problem, but that stubborn streak in me wouldn't give up. I had the opportunity to cut the race short as we went close to the start / finish point at around half distance. But no, I was determined to get around the course. Having done a half marathon distance during training I was hoping for a time of around 2 hours and 30 minutes. Unfortunately as the hip pain got worse, my pace got slower and I finally limped across the finish line in just over 3 hours. I think I'll go back to the shorter distances once I've given myself plenty of time to recover this time.
