Wild And Wet

After what’s felt like a very bizarre week I’ve decided to steer well clear of politics on all social media sites. I have my own feelings and opinions, and respect that others do too. The country has decided we should leave the EU, and that may well have an impact on the price of a lot of our ingredients, but time will tell as to whether that will mean long term increases in costs, or just a short-term thing we have to bear.

So, back to the kitchen this week with a vengeance. We had several orders to fulfil, and an event over the weekend. Today’s event was in the garden of Cake & Catwalk in Ipswich. After torrential rain whilst loading up the van, the sunshine came out. By the time I arrived in Ipswich, the torrential rain had found me again, so it took a while before we were brave enough to attempt set-up, and I was having one of those ‘should have stayed in bed’ moments.

Eventually the weather cleared and we had a very pleasant day with some sunshine whilst we sold some chocolate. Mr D’s been away karting this weekend, so I was packed up in record time. Forward planning meant there was a sausage & bean casserole simmering away in the slow cooker, so we could catch up on each other’s antics over a Sunday evening Prosecco before dinner.

Hilary Delamare

Choctails® was founded by husband and wife team Simon and Hilary Delamare. Simon's suggestion of putting cocktail flavours into chocolate took Hilary's chocolate-making hobby to new heights, until in May 2012, the decision was made to turn the hobby into a full time business. The domestic kitchen became a production factory by day, and the dining room was given up to become a place where hand-made chocolate is crafted
