Tuesday brought us the news that I’m now a double-award-winning chocolatier, having received a 1* Great Taste Award for the Buccaneer rum truffle. This, and the fact that Mr D is back to London for a new contract tomorrow, had us scurrying to the local pub for a celebratory lunch and a pint.
This weekend was our first weekend away in the Motor Home. What better way to try it out than to drive over to Brands Hatch for the British GT race?
We parked up at Clearways, giving us a view of the track from the front seats, which was very welcome when the rains came! It was also rather splendid to open the bedroom blinds on Sunday morning to see sunshine and blue skies over Clearways.
We had a tour through the pit garages courtesy of a photographer friend of ours and Simon managed to spend some time chatting with Rick Parfitt Jnr. There was some epic racing, including 2 podiums for our friend Bond To. The weather was changeable, but having the bus meant we could shelter from the worst of it and tune in to track radio whilst we enjoyed a cuppa and dried out.
On a practical note, we’ve tested all the kitchen appliances and water systems. The grill was a bit slow, so we resorted to frying our bacon on Sunday morning instead, but other than that, we managed to barbecue on the external BBQ point on Saturday evening, and I took a pre-prepared curry to reheat on Sunday evening before we headed home. A very successful first trip.
