This weekend was our annual visit to the Essex Food Festival at Cressing Temple Barns. This is always a well organised event and very busy for the stallholders. This year’s celebrity chefs were Tom Kerridge and James Martin, but sadly, as we’re always so busy, we never get the opportunity to go and see any of the chef demos. We were lucky enough last year to have John Torode pop by the stall after his demo, but no such chance for the chefs this year as they were kept busy with demos and book signings all day.
The weather was fabulous all weekend. Much as it would be lovely to enjoy the outdoors, we always elect to be in the cool indoors of the barns to make sure our chocolate doesn’t get too warm.
We’ve now got a few weeks off from the show circuit. Summer isn’t a prime chocolate-selling season, and with the weather either too hot that we live in fear of everything melting, or too wet that no one turns up, we make the decision to step off the circuit for a few weeks and catch our breath before the build-up to the festive season.
Our next event will be the Bury St Edmunds Food Festival over the August Bank Holiday weekend. We’ll be there all day on the Sunday and I’m looking forward to catching up with some familiar faces.
