Hot, Hot, Hot

After the cold north wind battering of last weekend it was wonderful to have some warmer weather this week. Now, I’m the first to get fed up when people say “it’s too hot” after a long cold winter, but of course warm weather and chocolate isn’t the greatest partnership! This week we’ve had to break out the air conditioning unit to keep the kitchen cool. We’ve been restocking from last weekend, getting ready for the Northampton Food Festival next weekend. As this is a stay-away show, we always take a little extra stock as we can’t just pop back and raid the chocolate bar store if one of our lines proves particularly popular, so we’ve been very busy in the kitchen all week.

I’ve also made sure I’ve spent some time enjoying the sunshine. It’s been great to enjoy a glass of wine or two in the garden and today we’ve had dinner Al Fresco before lighting the fire pit. Awesome! I’d like to think summer’s just around the corner, but you never can tell and the weather might deteriorate at any moment. I know that sounds dreadfully pessimistic, but I’ve been here before!

In the meantime, Choctails is now 4 years old. We had a few bubbles to celebrate the milestone on Wednesday and took the time to look back over our company history as well as looking ahead to what we’d like to achieve in the long and short term.

Choctails® was founded by husband and wife team Simon and Hilary Delamare. Simon's suggestion of putting cocktail flavours into chocolate took Hilary's chocolate-making hobby to new heights, until in May 2012, the decision was made to turn the hobby into a full time business. The domestic kitchen became a production factory by day, and the dining room was given up to become a place where hand-made chocolate is crafted
