There are some mornings you look out of the window and wonder if getting out of bed was the right idea …. Today was Lavenham Carnival …. in the pouring rain ….. with a broken gazebo ….
The weather wasn’t too promising when we set off and continued to worsen throughout the morning. The carnival procession were drenched by the time they arrived at the showground and headed straight for the warmth of the tea rooms. The classic cars were getting bogged down as they arrived, and left not too much later.
The stall holders who turned up stoically stuck it out for a couple of hours, until we all decided we’d had enough and packed up before stock got completely waterlogged and ruined.
One of the fixings on the gazebo roof came loose, which wouldn’t have been a major problem in the dry, but it made the perfect spot for the water to pool, so I had to keep emptying it out before the weight caused more damage. All in all, not our best day and we were glad to be home in the dry!
