There are times when you agree to do a show and within a couple of hours realised you’ve made a big mistake. The Flavours Winter Show was just such an event.
Friday was supposed to be a Trade day, but there didn’t seem to be many trade buyers around. Nor were there many members of the public, so when gates were closed an hour early, we were all relieved. I was particularly happy, as the previous night we’d attended the launch of Drinks Hamper magazine, and despite plenty of water, Lifeline, and not taking too much advantage of the free champagne I was still decidedly jaded for most of the day.
Saturday I was feeling more optimistic, but the crowds simply weren’t there. The show was supposed to finish at 7pm, but we all elected for another early finish after another poor day’s trading. By the end of Sunday I’d just about scraped together enough to cover my original pitch fees, so I was more than ready for a few glasses of wine to accompany a slow cooked Hungarian Goulash that Mr D had prepared for dinner. On the bright side, there’s less stock to replenish for our next event.
