Bank Holiday Bonanza

We’ve spent today at the Bury St Edmunds Food Festival and had fab weather for the most part. There were a couple of brief showers during the day, but not enough to put people off coming along. It was a great chance to catch up with some traders I’ve not seen for a while, as well as some of our Bury St Edmunds followers. We did get rather wet during the packing up process as the rain hit in force as I was collecting the van from the car park, so there’s some drying off to be done over the next couple of days!

We decided to just go for the one day of the two-day festival. With Christmas looming, we’re already busy ramping up production, and we made the decision a couple of years ago that August Bank Holiday Monday would be a proper day off, away from the business, as a chance to catch our breath before getting stuck into our Autumn / Winter production schedule.

And so tomorrow we’ll be having a wander down to the Wivenhoe Memories exhibition in our village and probably stop off for a couple of drinks on the way back. Fingers crossed for good weather so that we can barbecue in the evening. A few drinks around the fire pit would be a perfect end to the long weekend.

Choctails® was founded by husband and wife team Simon and Hilary Delamare. Simon's suggestion of putting cocktail flavours into chocolate took Hilary's chocolate-making hobby to new heights, until in May 2012, the decision was made to turn the hobby into a full time business. The domestic kitchen became a production factory by day, and the dining room was given up to become a place where hand-made chocolate is crafted
